Every day, in communities big and small across King and Kitsap counties, the American Red Cross works to alleviate human suffering.

When a family’s home catches fire, we provide lodging, food, comfort, and more, bridging the gap between despair and hope. When disaster threatens a community, we mobilize to provide relief, including shelter, nourishing meals, health services, and comfort. When a patient is fighting to survive, we deliver critical blood and blood products that can mean the difference between life and death. When a service member has an emergency and needs to reach family back home, the Red Cross helps connect them. We provide exceptional care from the day they enlist and throughout their lives as veterans.

For more than 140 years, the Red Cross has helped neighbors down the street, across the country, and around the world.

Bainbridge Island Volunteer Firefighters Association

Proudly serving Bainbridge Island since 1942, the Bainbridge Island Volunteer Firefighters Association and its membership serve our community as volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Our mission is to safeguard lives, property, and the environment through prevention, education, and emergency response. Bainbridge Prepares

Founded in 2011, Bainbridge Prepares prepares for and responds to natural and public health emergencies that affect Bainbridge Island and the greater Western Washington region. With over 19 specialized teams and 700+ volunteers from across the region, we work hand-in-hand with first responders, governmental agencies, and other nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations to build and educate communities prior to emergencies, and supplement the professional response if an emergency or disaster occurs.

Coffee Oasis

The Coffee Oasis is a faith-based non-profit organization that exists to create pathways of opportunity for youth to be restored in heart, soul, mind, and body. We believe youth are the future of our community, but many are hurting, homeless, and hindered from living their full potential. The Coffee Oasis youth programs offer a place for the community to invest in their future—the youth. We do this through creating safe shared spaces, mentorship, street, and school outreach, goal setting, job training, shelter, and crisis intervention. The only way for our mission to succeed is through the support of the entire community—intentional inter-generational and cross-cultural investment. The Coffee Oasis offers all resources, services, activities, and programs to youth 13-25 years old without regard to religious beliefs, race, color, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, identity, or disability.

YWCA of Kitsap County

YWCA of Kitsap County is the only state-certified domestic violence service provider in the County. We advance justice through direct service programs—24-hour hotline, safety planning, advocacy, emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal services, trauma-informed care, kids’ after-school and summer activities, support groups, strengthening families classes, digital skill classes and job counselling. We also serve the community indirectly by providing training for professionals and first responders and school-based prevention education. At the YWCA, a woman is empowered to leave an abusive relationship. With us, a mother and her children escape their abuser, avoid homelessness, and access safe, permanent housing. Here, with support and caring, a mother can find her positive path forward and families break the intergenerational cycle of violence. We bear witness to survivors’ dignity and celebrate their victories. But we don’t do it alone. It takes a community to end domestic violence–and Kitsap County CAN interrupt the cycle.
