Bainbridge Creative District

Arts & Humanities Bainbridge, with Bainbridge Island Chamber, Visit Bainbridge, Downtown Association, Lodging Association, Multicultural Advisory Committee, BIMA, Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community, Bainbridge Island artists and creatives, and City of Bainbridge Island, applied for and received designation as a Washington creative district by Washington Arts Commission (ArtsWa). Bainbridge Creative District (BCD) is the 10th creative district out of 11 in the State. BCD is a defined area of cultural and economic activity where people gather to enjoy their community’s arts and culture. It includes Downtown Winslow, “the glow” areas like Bloedel and BARN. ArtsWa provides support for arts, artists, arts facilities by paying administrative costs, and providing capital project funding. Designation promotes Bainbridge Island’s creative identity; grows jobs in the creative sector; boosts the creative economy by attracting cultural tourism; creates opportunities for makerspaces; redevelops historic assets; and makes Bainbridge Island a vibrant place to live, work and visit.
