Salish Sea Expeditions

This spring, the sailing vessel Carlyn will resume her pivotal role as the platform for student learning, science explorations, and discoveries of the sea for Salish Sea Expeditions (proud program of the Northwest Maritime Center). We’ve nearly booked a full schedule of schools ready to engage in 3- to 5-day learning expeditions this coming year! And thanks to a generous donor, NWMC purchased the 40’ power catamaran, Admiral Jack. Conversion to a floating lab was completed last summer, and we just finished our first fall season of programs! The pilot program provided 6 weeks of on-board vessel operations field days for the inaugural class of Maritime High School students. With your support, Salish Sea Expeditions can continue to provide inquiry- and boat-based marine science experiences that instill curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking in young people who step into the role of scientist and mariner.
